Trademarks for AI Businesses

If you have an AI-based business, you should get a registered trademark on your business name and /or on the name of the services you provide.   A registered trademark is one of your company's most valuable assets.  The trademark sets your service apart from other services in the same field.

When we apply to register a trademark, we must choose listings that accurately describe the services you provide.  The US Trademark Office has an ever-growing array of Accepted listings in the AI field.  Below are some of the Accepted listings that might describe the services provided by your AI business.   You can see -- these cover a wide span!  And there are at least a hundred more.

Research in the field of artificial intelligence

Household cleaning robots with artificial intelligence (AI)

DJ services rendered using artificial intelligence (AI)

Marketing services rendered using artificial intelligence (AI)

Nutrition counseling rendered using artificial intelligence (AI)

Swimming pool cleaning robots with artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence as a service (AIAAS) services featuring software using artificial intelligence for creating complex data science analyses

Financial advisory services rendered using artificial intelligence (AI)

Design and development of artificial intelligence (AI) software

Artificial intelligence as a service (AIAAS) featuring software using artificial intelligence for writing custom algorithms and implementing algorithms into dataflows

Humanoid robots with artificial intelligence for preparing beverages

There are dozens more Accepted Listings in the Artificial Intelligence field.  In addition, each ancillary field has numerous listings -- such as Facial Recognition, Speech Recognition, Voice Activation, etc.  Services are also categorized by Downloadable, Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) for building AI applications, and many more.

I am a lawyer who prosecutes trademarks.  That means I help you choose a viable trademark that is likely to succeed registration, then put in an application to the US Tradmark Office, and follow through on the application for its year-long registration process.  The entire trademark process is crucial to its success, but one of the most important steps is choosing the right Listings to accurately describe the goods or services.  A trademark I recently worked on has this as its Listing:

Software as a service (SAAS) services featuring software using artificial intelligence (AI) for remote monitoring and management (RMM) of Information Technology (IT) Systems and Network Monitoring

It is important to List what your service is actually doing. To do that, you have to work with a Trademark Lawyer who understands technology and the ever-growing landscape of services being offered.

When I work on a Trademark prosecution, I spend time getting to know my clients and their services or goods.  What are they doing, exactly, and how is the similar or different from what others are doing? And then how does that fit in with the way the US Trademark Office has categorized services into Classes and subdivided those into hundreds of Listings?  I enjoy finding out so I can put in the best possible application for your Trademark.
